Dr Johnson’s House contains a well-stocked library of books and pamphlets relating to Dr Johnson, his work, his life and his contemporaries, including first editions of Johnson’s Dictionary and several books that were owned by the great lexicographer. Our collection is currently being developed to focus on the history of lexicography in the eighteenth century.

We are undertaking a major project to catalogue the library. We are still working on the online catalogue, as there are a few issues with presentation and some cataloguing left to do, but it is available to search by clicking on the link below.
