2025 sees the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, a conflict that saw over 30 members of the City of London Police lose their lives, both on the Home Front and while serving in the Armed Forces. In this talk, police historian Rebecca Walker delves into the lives and careers of some of the police officers and staff commemorated on the force’s War Memorial. She explores what their stories reveal about the impact the global conflict had on the City of London and its police force.
Rebecca Walker
Rebecca Walker graduated in English Language and English Literature from Oxford University in 1985. She became a police officer in 1993, serving in both Sussex Police and the City of London Police. She was on the Project Board overseeing the City Police's Museum and is currently a Committee Member of the Police History Society. Rebecca also leads walks in London on a range of topics, including the history of policing the Square Mile.
