These lectures form an annual programme of monthly lunchtime lectures to be held here at Dr Johnson's House, kindly sponsored by The Fleet Street Quarter BID.





Join historian David Laird as he tells the story of the Great Fire of London and the rebuilding of the City of London. This talk will focus on the story, impact and legacy of September 1666, where a city still emerging from the impact of plague, was devastated once again by fire. A short Q&A will conclude the talk.


David Laird

David Laird is a Historian, Education Officer and founder of Heritage Guides walking tours. Originally from Edinburgh, he has worked over 15 years in some of the nation’s most iconic heritage sites including Tower Bridge, Edinburgh Castle, Kensington Palace and Hampton Court Palace.
