Universities

Dr Johnson's House runs Curator's tours for university groups; students of History, Humanities, English Literature, Architecture, Art History, Museum Studies, Design and Linguistics have visited the House for specialist tours.
Please email the Curator or call us on 020 7353 3745 to make a booking.

General Tour (45 minutes)

10 - 25 people
We can give general tours that give students a flavour of Johnson's life and works in the eighteenth century. These are particularly popular with overseas groups who are on a study visit to the UK.
Student entry is £5.00 and the tour is free.

Bespoke Tour/Talk

10 - 25 people
The Curators can adapt a tour to suit your topic of study. Recently we have discussed Johnson and Shakespeare, the architecture of the house and the experience of the black population in eighteenth-century London.
Student entry is £5.00 and the tour is free.

Self-guided visits

Groups are welcome to visit Dr Johnson's House without taking a tour. We do ask that larger groups let us know in advance.

Adult Education

Lifelong Learning

Our Curator's tours are popular with groups such as the U3A and local history societies. We run tours for groups of 10 to 25 people. The group rate is £5.00 per person and the tour is free. We can give introductory talks to smaller groups. Please contact us for more information, or to make a booking.

Dr Johnson's House can provide a limited number of part-time, unpaid work placements for students studying a Museum Studies course or similar. There is more information on our volunteering page.
