Dr Johnson's House runs English workshops for secondary pupils based around Johnson's Dictionary and Black History. We are currently developing these workshops - check back soon for details.

We also run tailored workshops for students studying local history or doing Travel and Tourism studies and longer-term cross-curricular projects. Details about a recent project are below. Contact us if you would like to find out more, or are interested in your students or youth group members working with Dr Johnson's House.

What's in a Word?

In partnership with St Bride Foundation

Working with the St Bride Foundation Youth Theatre, fifty teenagers used Dr Johnson's House as the inspiration for a piece of promenade theatre, music and song. The young people investigated Johnson and his circle of friends with our Education Officer. They went on to work with theatre professionals to develop this research into characters and scenes, which were performed in Dr Johnson's House to an appreciative audience!

A documentary of this project was created by some of the participants and is available for viewing on Vimeo. Please contact us for the link.
