ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

For adults studying English as a Second Language at intermediate level or above, or those improving their English skills, we can combine the content of our schools' English workshops with a general tour of the House. Workshops can be tailored to suit the needs of your group and can include a focus on the importance of dictionary-writing or the evolution of language.

The group rate is £5.00 per person with a free tour, although some organisations may be eligible for free entry. Please contact us for further information.

A Random Dictionary: An Art and Language Workshop

Wednesday 24 August, 2.30pm (aimed primarily at ESOL students but open to anybody with an interest in and love for language!)

Work in collaboration with Artist in Residence Lorena Carbajal to engage in playful explorations of Dr Johnson’s Dictionary. Play with words, language, translations and definitions in this unusual ‘English lesson/Art project’.

This event is run by the Artist and an experienced EFL Teacher, as part of the Artist's residency at Dr Johnson’s House.

The workshop is FREE, although booking is required via Eventbrite
